Tim Wood, Northern Powerhouse Rail Director at Transport for the North, will once again join a number of key speakers at the Advanced Materials in Construction Conference 2020. Following his well-received introduction to Northern Powerhouse Rail in 2019, Tim will return to talk about the challenges he has faced over the past 12 months, and what we can expect from Northern Powerhouse Rail going forward.
The Northern Powerhouse Rail programme aims to better connect the key economic areas and cities of the North, and its delivery is planned over 30 years by combining new, existing and already planned lines such as HS2. Tim will give an update of HS2 and may even offer views on a post-Brexit Britain.
Tim Wood explains, “Transport for the North and partners are looking to work with innovators and collaborators on the multi-billion-pound infrastructure project, which will be transformational for the north of England. Northern Powerhouse Rail is set to change the way people live, work and play, and will help rebalance the UK economy after years of under investment. Having attended this conference last year, I can see how it provides a valuable opportunity for companies to learn of innovations across the composites, advanced materials and construction sector.”
Manchester University will again host the conference and exhibition and the event will highlight innovative product development, new architectural and infrastructure projects and case studies, along with interactive panel sessions. The aim is to provide thought-provoking presentations to inspire and motivate the construction industry and its supply chain to consider advanced materials as the material of choice wherever possible.
Siobhan Longhurst, Fluency Marketing Event Director and ConstructionAM Manager, said, “We are really pleased to welcome Tim back to the conference and look forward to hearing about the changes he has seen over the last 12 months. As organisers, we are pleased to help bring the companies, products and people together who have the ability and drive to push the use of advanced materials for construction industry forward.”
About the conference, Tim said, “As Rail Director for Northern Powerhouse Rail, this conference provided a real insight into smart innovations and technologies that both the supply chain and academia are developing, which would provide significant opportunities in designing and building a transformational railway that brings major economic growth, capacity and connectivity to the North of England.”
Technical Sales Manager of Amiblu, Leon Woods said, “The inaugural AMConf 2019 was a great start to something new in our industry. The conference was well thought out, with a variety of presentations highlighting new opportunities and the diverse uses of composites in today’s world of construction. From Amiblu’s perspective, being able to network and create new discussions with clients, consultants and contractors with an interest in our business offering was very beneficial.”
